Upper Mustang trek is an adventurous and most famous trek in Mustang region that offers a spectacular experience and chance of exploring Upper Mustang culture. The Mustang culture is very similar to the Tibetan culture because the people are of Tibetan origin. The isolation of the Mustang region from the outside world has contributed to a highly preserved Tibetan culture and unspoiled nature makes an Upper Mustang trek a unique experience. Different landscapes, magnificent views of mountains and peaks, settlements of whitewashed houses, barley fields and chorten decorated with prayer flags which add a splash of color to the landscape takes the upper mustang trek to a different world beyond our imagination. You will be able to witness the world’s deepest river gorge in the Kali Gandaki River.

Upper Mustang Trek drives you into the hidden world of the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang. You will be able to visit the royal palace, a few beautiful monasteries like the Thugchen Gompa built in the 15th century, and the Amchi Museum and Amchi School. The Upper Mustang trek also includes a holy trek to Muktinath which is a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhist followers. The trek leads through the rainfall area and reaches to dry land of Upper Mustang through the trail following the Kali Gandaki River gorge up to Mustang. The trail of Upper Mustang trek passes through some ancient villages that have unspoiled cultures and untouched by the marks of modern development. The Mustang region is windy and the trail goes uphill with a lot of ups and downs with coming across pilgrims up to the Muktinath Temple. The monasteries of this region are recorded as the oldest of Nepal. The Upper Mustang Trek lets you explore Lo Manthang valley, Kagbeni village, Muktinath surrounding and many varieties of flora and fauna.  You can also witness the Nepali Grand Canyon from Chele, try adventure sports such as cycling, rock climbing, horse riding, and mountain biking, try local cuisines, celebrate the Tiji festival and visit Chungsi cave which is popular for the traditional salt trading route of Mustang.
