Tamang Heritage trekking trail is the cultural trek in the Langtang region towards the north of the Kathmandu valley which takes you to different villages of the ethnic Tamang people. It is the best trek to explore Tamang heritage. This trek provides the opportunity to explore the lifestyle, religious culture, and tradition of the ethnic Tamang people of Nepal. The newly opened Tamang heritage trail is the unique blend of the cultural richness and natural beauty as well as the panorama of the Mountains. Though this trekking region is near the capital city of Nepal Kathmandu, it is untouched by the roads and the urban lifestyle and the centuries-long culture and tradition of the Tamang and Sherpa people remain intact.
Along with the cultural richness, this trekking trail also provides the chance to observe the panorama of the towering mountains like Langtang Lirung (7246 m), Gauri Shankar Himal (7134 m), Manaslu, Dorje Lakpa (6996 m), Ganesh Himal (7405 m), Rolwaling, etc. Tamang Heritage trekking trail begins from the Safrubeshi of Rasuwa district after 7/8 hours’ drive from the Kathmandu valley. We traverse through the picturesque Tamang villages, river valleys, Langtang National park, terraced fields, and forest of rhododendron with the view of snow-clad mountains in the north. In different villages like Goljung, Tatopani, Briddim, Thuman, etc, you get the opportunity to have insight into the pristine Tibetan like culture and lifestyle untouched by the modernity of the Tamang and Sherpa people. You also visit Buddhist monasteries which are the chance to interact with the Buddhist monks and nuns. While trekking in the Langtang national park you can see various types of plants and see the rare wild animals like Red Panda, Snow leopard, Himalayan Thar, monkey, etc. The best season to go for the Tamang Heritage trek in the Langtang valley in autumn and spring when the weather is clear and you can have a clear view of the mountains as well as the natural scenery.
