Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trekking route follows the footsteps of famous Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norge Sherpa and ends with a rise of Kala Patthar (5,545 m). Kala Patthar is the best place for viewpoint. The safe and attractive route passes through a mountainous village Phaplu, in northeast Nepal. The trekking route falls under the Khumbu region which is home to many endangered animals and birds like Himalayan Thar, Snow Leopard and many more. On our journey, we get a chance to encounter various ethnic villages of Sherpa, Rai, Chhetri, and Gurung people and experience their culture and traditions.

Trekking from Phaplu to Everest Base Camp is a little bit longer than the regular EBC trekking route via Lukla. However, the route is safe and adventurous.  The route passes through the Sagarmatha National Park, which has been listed in World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The beautiful moments to explore would be the Everest Icefall glacier with huge ice pinnacles elevated to amazing height before reaching the EBC. The spiritual Buddhists’ prayer flags hanging above the way make the journey quiet and peaceful. The Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trekking takes you to the altitude of 5,545 m at Kala Patthar viewpoint. The viewpoint is famous for observing many snow-capped mountains at the same time. We can observe the highest peak Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,463 m), Cho-Oyu (8152 m) and many others.

When is the best season to trek Everest Base Camp via Phaplu?

The best season to visit the Khumbu region is in spring as the complete trekking routes are filled with colorful Rhododendron and greenish landscape. Although, the trek starting in March, April and May are also perfect. In those days the sun is sparkling and skies seem to be almost clear. There are off-season treks available as well. There may be a risk of avalanches and landslides in Monsoon in the Everest region.
