Dolpo trek is the off the beaten trek that offers the real adventure experience to the trekkers. Dolpo is a remote and unspoiled region located in the Karnali zone in the western northern part of Nepal bordering with Tibet. Dolpo region is a reward with the exceptional pristine natural elegance and rugged charm. In this trek, you perceive the opportunity to socialize with the nomadic people of Nepal and have insight into their lifestyle which is untouched and unexplored. During the Dolpo trek, you can explore the boundless diversity of landscapes, culture and the lifestyle of the Himalayan people which is alike to that of the Tibetan people. Dolpo region is renowned for the medicinal herbs including ‘Yarsagumba’. People flock to collect Yarsagumba in this region. The inhabitants of the Dolpo region follow the pre-Buddhist Bon Po religion. In this trek, you visit the world’s highest villages Charka Vote and Tarap Gaun. The extraordinary attraction of this region includes the Shey Phoksundo national park and the Shey Phoksundo Lake.

The challenging and adventurous Dolpo region trek was inaugurated in 1989 AD for organized group trekking. To trek in this region, trekkers need special authorization from the government of Nepal. And also it requires prior experience of hiking or trekking and strong physical fitness. Dolpo trek begins with the flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Jufal airstrip. In this trek, you traverse through the Shey-Phoksundo National Park, different valleys, the peaceful forest of pines and rhododendron rugged canyons in the barren plateau, etc and visit Shey Phoksundo Lake, the deepest lake of Nepal. You can witness and experience the enormous and majestic mountain ranges like Kanjirowa, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna, etc, and visit Buddhist monasteries and yak caravans. You encounter the numerous rare and endangered species of wildlife like Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and Snow Leopard, etc. in the Shey Phoksundo National Park.  Dolpo trek gives you the lifetime memory. The best time to go for the Dolpo trek is autumn and the spring season.

Dolpo trek was one of my best trek in Nepal. But what it made the best was the Blue Lake Travel’s team. They organized it so well and the members were all respectful and friendly. I am glad that i chose this agency.
