Thapa Peak is situated on the north-east of the great Dhaulagiri massif in the Annapurna range and also known as Dhampus Peak. This peak lies at the height of 6,012 meters and is one of the non-technical climbing peaks which is one of the non-technical climbing peaks and this can also be a good choice for starters. Thapa Peak offers an incredible view of Tukuche Peak (6,920 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna (8,091 m), Nilgiri (2,637 m), Tilicho Peak, SitaChuchura, Tukuche Peak, Tangu Peak, Thorong Peak, Tangu and Hongde Peak. This trip also offers a great cultural and religious aspect by visiting different villages of Kaligandaki valley.
The Thapa Peak can be reached by following the well known Dhaulagiri Circuit trek trail. The trail to the mountain splits from the Hidden Valley camp after the French pass. Thapa peak base camp only requires one day from the base camp to climb the summit and is only a few hours away from the Hidden Valley camp.
Is the Dhaulagiri Round with Thapa Peak Trek difficult?
This is one of the non-technical peaks of the Himalayas. It is not so difficult and also doable for beginners. Even the beginners can climb the peak with a little bit of training. It is necessary to have good physical fitness and the climbers need to prepare mentally.
Is prior experience necessary for Dhaulagiri Round with Thapa Peak Trek difficult?

The Dhaulagiri Round trek is doable in all the seasons. However, autumn and spring are considered to be the best seasons for this trek as the weather is more clear and unambiguous.
Itinenary
Arrival in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel
On this day you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport. We will be there to pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Sightseeing
Early in the morning, you start your travel to different places of Kathmandu and full day Kathmandu sightseeing like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Shyambunath, etc. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Fly to Pokhara and drive to Darbang (1,180 m)
On this day, you take a flight to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara you can visit some of the famous places. You travel to Darbang by jeep. It will take about 4-5 hours. Overnight in a camp.
Trek to Dharapani
Today, you trek to Dharapani. The overall duration of this trek will be about 3 hours. Overnight in a camp at Dharapani.
Trek Dharapani to Mudi
Today we trek from Dharapani to Mudi. It will take about 5-6 hours for the overall trekking. Overnight in a camp.
Mudi to Boghara
Today we follow the trail from Mudi until we reach Boghara. This will take about 4-5 hours and we will stay at Boghara at a camp.
Trek Boghara to Dolang
Our trek begins early in the morning. We reach to Dolang after a walk of 5-6 hours. We stay in camp for the night.
Trek Dolang to Pine Forest
On this day, we begin our trek from Dolang. We follow the trail until we reach the Pine Forest. We can see different sceneries and landscapes along the way. The overall duration of this trek will be about 5-6 hours.
Pine Forest to Italian Base Camp (3,200 m)
Today, our destination is the Italian Base Camp. We trek until we reach the base camp and rest there for the night. About 7-8 hours of time is required for this trek.
Acclimatization day
Today is the acclimatization day. We travel to the surroundings at adjusting to the environment. There will be a local excursion that will take 2-4 hours.
Italian Base Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp
On this day, we travel to another base camp which is the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. We follow the path and walk for 7-8 hours until we reach there. Overnight in the base camp.
Dhaulagiri Base Camp to French Pass (5,360 m)
We trek to the French Pass on this day. We will be able to see outstanding scenes of mountains and landscapes along the way. We trek for about 5-6 hours until we reach there. Overnight in a camp.
Rest and Acclimatization day
This day is separated for resting and getting acclimatized. We rest at the Hidden Valley after reaching there. Overnight in a camp.
Hidden Valley to Thapa Pass (5,250 m) to Yak Khark (3,000m)
Today, we trek from the Hidden Valley to Thapa Pass and to the Yak Kharka. It is a long journey that will take about 6-7 hours. Overnight in a camp.
Yak Khark - Thapa Peak Base camp
Today is the day we finally make our way into the Thapa Peak Base camp. Overnight in a camp.
Rest for acclimatization
This day is a rest day for acclimatization.
High Camp of a peak
Today we reach the highest camp of the peak. Upon reaching there we prepare ourselves for the great climb to the summit.
One extra day
This is an extra day in case if the weather gets bad.
Summit of Thapa peak 6,012 m and to Base camp
Today we reach the summit of Thapa peak. Upon reaching the summit we can see some breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. After this, we return back to the base camp and stay there for the night.
Base camp - Yak Khark
On this day, we trek from the Base camp to Yak Kharka. Overnight in a camp.
Yak Kharka - Tukuche (2,800 m)
We travel from Yak Kharka to Tukuche on this day. This will take about 4-5 hours. We stay at the camp for the night. Overnight in a camp.
Tukuche - Pokhara
We drive back to Pokhara from Tukuche. It is a long drive and will take about 9-10 hours. You will stay at a hotel in Pokhara for the night.
Drive to Kathmandu
We return back to Kathmandu by a tourist bus. After reaching Kathmandu, we will stay at a hotel and take a good rest. The overall time taken for this drive will be 6-7 hours.
Free day
This is a leisure day in Kathmandu. You can visit some of the famous places in Kathmandu. You can also visit some of the markets of Kathmandu for shopping.
Departure.
This is your final day in Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the International Airport for your final departure.
