SunKoshi River also known as the “river of gold” is the longest rafting river in Nepal for white water rafting. The river is very beautiful for rafting. SunKoshi River Rafting put-in point is at Dolalghat which is also the put-out point of Bhote Koshi river rafting. SunKoshi River is the best rafting trail for first-time water adventure experience because it is one of the easiest rafting rivers in Nepal.

Rafting in SunKoshi is wonderful to experience in watercourses. The river is calm and tranquil while flowing in some of the areas and wile and turbulent in some of the flows. The river is changing its moods so it has challenges for water adventures. The river has very challenging offers for kayakers too. SunKoshi River Rafting presents any rafting or kayaking enthusiast with relaxing canyons, extraordinary waterfalls, beautiful white sandy beaches for fixing up camp and a vast diversity of whitewater.  The river trail is probably the longest rafting trail of more than a week. The river has remarkably challenging rapids like Meat Grinder, Punch and High Anxiety. The river has many tributaries which join the river and in plains called by the name of Sapta Gandaki. Put-out-point of the river is at Chatara. SunKoshi River Rafting presents you with fun, bouncy and exciting pool drop rapids. You can also witness a beautiful beach camping along with mesmerizing villages, jungle, and waterfalls. It also offers a panoramic scenario and path to villages along the way with a touch of mixed ethnic group’s culture and tradition on the way.  This is Nepal’s one of the most original river expeditions.

The best season for rafting in SunKoshi River is from January to April and from October to December. The rafting adventure can be enjoyed with beautiful scenic views, thrilling adventures, experiencing local adventures and a pleasant atmosphere. Itinenary
Day 1

Kathmandu to Tarang Gaon via. Dolalghat

We drive for about three hours to reach Dolalghat which is a famous domestic tourist spot. You will be given all the necessary detailed briefings about rafting such as the river rapids, the river’s condition, paddling process, safety, and emergency rescue methods, etc. Then, set up for raft until you reach Tarang Gaon (village). Upon arrival at the campsite, you can spend the rest of the time exploring the surrounding area.

Day 2

Raft from Tarang Gaon to Dumja

After morning breakfast we start the rafting tour up to Dumja. The rapids you will encounter today are Grade 3 and 4 i.e. “No Exit” and “Meat Grinder” respectively. We enjoy the fire and have fun moments sharing your experience of the day in Dumja.

Day 3

Raft from Dumja to Khurkot

After an appetizing breakfast, you will raft from Dumja to Khurkot. You will raft to a spot where Tama Koshi River unites the Sun Koshi. Then we set up our camp at Khurkot for an overnight stay.

Day 4

Raft from Khurkot to Likhu Khola

After breakfast, we proceed for the rafting tour from Khurkot towards Likhu Khola. You can also see some wild monkeys and experience the splendid scene of the natural scenario on the way. Some rapids which you will experience today are “Anxiety Series”, “Meat Grinder”, along with “Pre”, “Post” and “High Anxiety”. There is sufficient time to explore the scenery and observe different ethnic groups along the river. Today we set up our camp on the bank of Likhu River.

Day 5

Raft from Likhu Khola to Harkapur

After breakfast, we continue our raft from Likhu Khola (River). The size of the rapid can surprise you today as we pass through Grade 3 rapids today. We stop at Harkapur village for overnight stay.

Day 6

Raft to Rai Ghat from Harkapur village

You will be fully entertained today as you encounter some of the challenging and demanding rapids such as ‘Bridge rapids’ and ‘Krishna rapids’. Overnight stay in Rai Ghat.

Day 7

Raft to Bander Ghat from Rai Ghat

You will experience the hardest part of the rafting on this day as you will encounter mostly Grade 4+ rapids such as “Rhino Rock” and “Jungle Corridor”. You will camp overnight at Bander Ghat.

Day 8

Raft Bander Ghat to Bonjur Ghat

After an appetizing breakfast over the beach, we continue our rafting tour to Bonjur Ghat crossing the Mardheku gorge. Overnight in the camp at Bonjur Ghat.

Day 9

Raft Bonjur Ghat to Baraha Chhetra

We raft towards Baraha Chhetra moving from Bonjur Ghat. You will experience are normal and not so challenging rapids. Overnight stay at Baraha Chhetra.

Day 10

Raft from Baraha Chhetra Kathmandu via. Chatara

We raft from Baraha Chhetra to Chatara where we will join the dense water of Arun Koshi encountering the last rapid to the joint of Tamur Koshi. Upon arrival at Chatara, we drive back to Kathmandu.
