Chitwan National Park (932sq km.) is the first national park of Nepal established in 1973 which is situated in the plain lowland of the central-southern part of Nepal. Chitwan National Park is the UNESCO enlisted natural world heritage site. Chitwan national park which is a haven to most endangered and rare wildlife species is the best destination for the Jungle safari.
Chitwan national park is famous for one-horned rhinoceros, the royal Bengal tiger, and Gharial. In this national park, you also see many other common species of wild animal like chital, hog deer, barking deer, sloth deer, common leopard, palm civet, wild dog, langur and rhesus monkeys, wild buffalo, etc. You can also see the variety of birds like babbles and orioles, koels and drongos, peacocks and floricans, etc. The park boasts diverse forests and grasslands which offers a great wilderness experience with its rich flora and fauna to the visitors. You experience a rich ecosystem. During the Chitwan Jungle safari, you enjoy the sights of wild lives in their natural habitats – natural water, deep forest, and rich grasslands. You can visit the national park in three different ways- on the back of the elephant, in the jeep, as well as on foot. In this tour, you also enjoy the canoeing in the Rapti and Narayani River. During the Chitwan jungle safari, you also visit the ethnic village of the Chepang people which is the endangered ethnic group of Nepal. It is located near the National park. Elephant riding:
Elephant safari is one of the most popular activities both inside and outside the park. It provides a chance to see one horn rhinos and a tiger from atop an elephant. It is also the only way to navigate through eight feet tall grasses and experience wildlife in its natural settings.
Jungle walking:
Jungle walk is usually carried out in small groups and is escorted by naturalists of an exhaustive observation of the diverse species found in the park from insects and birds to rhinos and tigers.
Jeep drive:
Jeep safari is one of the active and exciting programs. In this program, we provide your 4WD vehicle and surf the forest from the comfort of your seat. It is the optional and seasonal program starting from November to the end of May every year. An expert guide will help you to recognize the pug marks of tigers and leopards and the inner affairs of elephants to capture the natural sights and sounds of the forest in your memory.
Canoeing:
The canoe ride is one of the most popular programs in the Chitwan national park. A canoe ride on the Narayani and Rapti rivers is a journey that you won’t want to miss it. It can easily cover the greater length of Chitwan national park with eye-popping views, especially of water birds and fishes. A canoe ride also gives a rare up-close view of Gharial crocodiles and the rich and varied aquatic ecology.
Bird watching:
On a bird-watching trip, you will be guided by a native naturalist through the grassland of Chitwan national park. There are hundreds of migratory and native birds that you can catch a glimpse of a shooting range- but just make sure you do it with a camera.
Culture program:
The Tharu people are the indigenous inhabitants of the Terai region of Nepal and have been the caretakers of the tropical forests of Nepal for centuries. Today, their culture is a most vibrant one, with Tharu unique dance being demonstrated and exhibited in lodges and in their community center especially near the Saurah.
Elephant breeding center:
elephant breeding center of Chitwan will provide you the opportunity to see baby elephants and observe the different material that is used in elephant keeping at elephant training museum set-up inside the breeding center.
Gharial Crocodile Breeding Center:
Of the two types of crocodiles in Chitwan, the Ghariyal is more common than the Marsa Mugger. A breeding center has been set up in Kasara, dedicated to the conservation of Ghariyal. Only a few years ago they were on the brink of extinction but thanks to the effort of agencies like WWF, The Ghariyal now making a come –back.
Tharu Village Tour:
This tour takes the tourist through Tharu community village around the park. The guests are also entertained through different Tharu cultures with living daily lifestyle.
